What is SAGE?
SAGE is a graduate-student led organization dedicated to promoting academic events
and camaraderie amongst the English department's graduate students. All matriculated
graduate students in English at Wayne State University are members. All you have
to do is participate!
Our objectives are:
- To provide graduate-student representation to the department, college, and university.
- To foster the professional development of English graduate students through the cooperation of graduate students, faculty, and departmental leadership by sponsoring visiting speakers, Graduate Student Conferences, or other events.
- To improve the department's recruitment of both graduate students and faculty.
- To provide mentorship opportunities for undergraduates and graduate students.
- To provide a support network for undergraduate and graduate students.
- To encourage fun and fellowship for graduate students through a variety of non-academic activities (hiking, social gatherings,
etc.).
SAGE does not have an office. We have a website (
http://www.english.wayne.edu/sage/) and a list-serv, whereby all of SAGE's members can communicate. To add your email address to the SAGE list-serv, go to the SAGE list-serv archive,
http://lists.wayne.edu/archives/sage.html, and follow the link to "Join the List." We also have a bulletin board located in the mail room on the 9th floor of the English department that is updated
periodically as events are planned.
Our current officers are listed here.
We hope you join us as we look forward to a very productive year for SAGE!
