Since 1997, our community-based writing group has earned grants and recognition from Wayne State University and its surrounding communities as well as from state-sponsored and nationwide foundations. Faculty awards in 2006 have focused on classroom research and community research:

Gwen Gorzelsky, Michigan Campus Contact Award, 2006.
Ellen Barton, NCTE Award for Best Article on Teaching Methods in Technical/Scientific Communication, 2005.
Frances Ranney, Wayne State University Community-Based Research and Mentoring Grant, 2006. For collaborative research with Back Alley Bikes, a nonprofit organization near campus.
