Since 1983 we have offered English students an Intern/Co-op program and course. The program places English majors and minors in jobs where they can use their skills in writing, research, editing and proofreading. Our program also offers our students excellent field experience as they build their resumes for the important post-graduation job search.
Students have been placed as interns in public relations and advertising firms, as well as in such organizations and businesses as:
The 36th District Court
The Detroit Office of Public Information
DRIS Radio
Metro Parent Newspaper
Gale Research, Inc.
Crain Communications,
The Metro Times
Students usually work 8-10 hours per week, and it is possible for them to earn up to 6 credit hours towards their degrees by registering for English 5820.
