| As part of its participation in the Carnegie Initiative on the Doctorate, the English Department at Wayne State University has revised all graduate courses and degree requirements. Changes in the curriculum are intended to provide students understanding of the field of composition studies as well as a focused project for the dissertation. | Core Curriculum for Doctoral Students in Composition Studies (60 hours) Introduction to Doctoral Program (1 hour) 2 Theory courses (8 hours) 2 English courses outside the area of Composition Studies (8 hours) 2 Teachning courses (4-7 hours) 2 Seminars in Composition Studies (8 hours) 2 other courses in Composition Studies (8 hours) Electives (may be used toward minor and/or emphasis) (20-23 hours) |
